Google’s Next Phase in Driverless Cars: No Brakes or Steering Wheel

google carGoogle is now experimenting with self driving cars, but will this new technology convince people that they are safe to be on the road?

How is this car expected to operate?

The car would be summoned with a smartphone application. It would pick up a passenger and automatically drive to a destination selected on a smartphone app without any human intervention.

The point of a human being in the driver less car would be to take over in case of an accident or emergency.  Doesn’t this take away from the whole purpose of being a driver less car.  Christopher Urmson, robotist that works with the Google project says, ” The front of the car will be made from a foam like material in case the computer fails and it hits a pedestrian.”
