Attention- Deficit Drugs are a concern on college campuses around the US. Some students have a hard time keeping their hands off these medications. Fresno State is one of dozens of colleges tightening the rules on the diagnosis of A.D.H.D. and the subsequent prescription of amphetamine-based medications like Vyvanse and Adderall. The rules to get prescriptions drugs on campuses for A.D.H.D prescriptions are deterring students who do not really need these medications. A two month wait period stops them from getting a prescription, which can in the long run be beneficial for them.
Various studies have estimated that as many as 35 percent of college studentsillicitly take these stimulants to provide jolts of focus and drive during finals and other periods of heavy stress. Many do not know that it is a federal crime to possess the pills without a prescription and that abuse can lead to anxiety, depression and, occasionally, psychosis.
