President Obama is finally increasing education spending, but does he focus on both poor students and students with disabilities?
How much money is the Obama administration requesting for the education budget?
The administration is asking for $71.2 billion in discretionary funding for education. One of the programs that is getting the most attention is the preschool expansion initiative and this program will be called “Preschool for All”. The demand for better early childhood education is very high in this country. Early childhood education educators recommend that every child should assist preschool.
The budget will also be used to expand charter schools. However, the budget is not being increased for Title I and the Individuals for the Disability Education Act. Critics argue that “competitive grants leave too many students behind”.
