For the first time in the University of California, more Latinos students are applying for undergraduate admission.
Latinos are the largest group applying for the freshman class.
Hispanic applicants make up 32.1 percent of the freshman pool.
On Friday, the UC officials that the number of students applying to UC’s nine undergraduate campuses rose 8.6 percent to 174,767.
That includes freshman and transfer applicants applying for fall 2013.
The number of freshman applications from domestic non-residents rose 14.9 percent to 21,970.
Mean while the number of international applicants jumped 34.5 percent to 18,659.
The number of California students who applied for freshman admission rose 6.2 percent to 99,129.
