Thanksgiving Was A Hispanic Tradition

Thanksgiving is not only a Puritan Tradition and linked with the pilgrims on the mayflower. Hispanics had come before with their Thanksgiving traditions.

Since the beginning of time, people have acknowledged their good income by rituals, offerings or sacrifices. There has always been a tradition of celebrating Days of Fasting or Days of Thanksgiving. In society, act of thanksgiving have always been around including in religions like Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and many other religions.

The original founder of Thanksgiving was the first President, George Washington who institutionalize this holiday as Thanksgiving on November 26, 1789. President George Washington stated “as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favours of Almighty God.”
