Over 70% of most of the middle school students from New York City are Latino or black. Elite schools have only a small percentage of Latino and black students.
The Anderson school in Manhattan have a gifted program that has the best scores in the city, but their Latino and black students ratio are only 17% from 569 students. The Mark Twain school in Brooklyn also have only 17% of 1,281 students are Latino and black. Throughout the city, the borough and the school district, Latino and black kids were in the minority percentage.
